Every few weeks we will try to give a bit of a profile or introduction of each of the Organising Team so you can put a name to a face and know what they do.

Simon-Organising-Team-Page

Simon | BrumJam Jamboree Chief

Simon has been a leader with Scouting for 39 years and held a number of volunteer appointments, including Scout Leader and Assistant County Commissioner (Scouts). Currently as well as heading up BrumJam Simon is a District Commissioner and Deputy County Commissioner in Birmingham. Simon has been involved, organised and attended a number of Jamborees and International trips, worked alongside our friends in Girlguiding and was Deputy Chief at BrumJam 2012 heading up both the Programme Team and Sub Camps Team. Simon’s role on BrumJam 2016 is to lead a team of Department Chief’s and ensure we all have a safe and fun time at the camp.

Nick Fawdry | Admin Chief & Deputy Jamboree Chief

Nick has been a leader with Scouting for 18 years and held a number of volunteer appointments, including Scout Leader and Assistant County Commissioner (Scouts). Currently as well as being married to Steph, having a full time job working in Oxfordshire and supporting the Organising Team for BrumJam, Nick is County Secretary in Birmingham County. Nick has been involved, organised and attended a number of large scale events. Nick supported BrumJam as a member of the Staff team for the Programme in 2012. Nick is committed to support both the Organising Team and the Jamboree Chief helping to do the best planning possible before the event to make sure we all have a great time on camp. In addition Nick is the point of contact for Staff who wish to get involved and help deliver the camp. Nick’s task is to understand what Staff would like to do and then assign to the appropriate Department Chief or Team Leader. Andy

Andy | BrumJam Support Team Chief

Andy has volunteered with Girlguiding for 12 years and likes to claim that he is one of few men with a Girlguiding appointment. Currently as well as being married to Clare, has a two daughters and a full time job is heading up the Support Team for BrumJam. Andy has been involved, organised and attended a number of large scale camps in the UK including Warwickshire Guides county camp called Arden which was also based at Blackwell Adventure in 2014 so knows the site well! Andy is committed to lead the Support Team who love nothing more than cleaning toilets, litter picking, cleaning toilets, collecting rubbish, cleaning toilets, filling generators, cleaning toilets, cleaning showers and err cleaning toilets. Oh and they help us all get on and off the sub camps, move equipment and food deliveries around the site and also support with the event first aid provision. The Support team are there to do exactly as it suggests which is to support the other BrumJam teams to make sure we all have a great time on camp.

Brian Stacey

Brian | BrumJam Security Chief

Brian has been a leader with Scouting for 24 years and holds a number of volunteer appointments, including District Scout Leader in Sutton Coldfield East and is a SAS Team Leader with the National Scout Fellowship Security Team (NSFST). Currently as well as being a volunteer and having a full time job Brian is heading up the Security Team for BrumJam. Brian has been involved, organised and attended a number of large events and worked alongside our friends in Girlguiding at the Warwickshire Arden Camp last held in 2014. Brian attended BrumJam as a team leader of the Security team in 2012. Brian is responsible for heading up Security, Radio Communications, Heath & Safety and the Fire Personnel. Brian’s team works closely with the Support team and wants to ensure we all have a safe and fun time at camp.

Lynn-Gurmin

Lynn | Finance Chief

Lynn has been a Leader with Scouting for 29 years and held a number of volunteer appointments including Assistant County Commissioner (Beavers) and Assistant District Commissioner (Beavers). Currently as well as being married to Steve, having a full time job and supporting the Organising Team for BrumJam, Lynn is County Treasurer in Birmingham County, Lynn has been involved, organised and attended a number of large scale events. Lynn is the first point of contact for the Booking Team and arranges the booking reference, the booking forms and then handles the payments and payment confirmations. Between the Finance and the General Admin teams (combined the Booking Team) these are the most complex elements leading up to any event however Lynn is committed to ensure that the booking process runs smoothly and hands over the booking information to our Admin Team. During BrumJam Lynn makes sure the bills get paid so we can all get on with having a fun time a camp.

Paul-Goon

Paul | International Liaison Chief

Paul has been a Leader with Scouting for 32 years and has held a number of volunteer appointments including Assistant County Commissioner (Scouts) and District Commissioner. Paul has a full time job, is supporting the Organising Team for BrumJam and is County SAS Manager and Acting Group Scout Leader, Paul has been involved, organised and attended a number of International Jamborees (IST for Japan 2015) and large scale events and was the International Liaison at BrumJam 2012. Paul’s role on BrumJam 2016 is to liaise with the International Groups and Staff both before and during the camp and make sure our overseas visitors and staff feel welcome and have a great time at BrumJam 2016. Paul will also be responsible for Guest Hospitality for our special visitors and also manage the one off ceremonies such as the main site flag break.

Paul-Wong

Paul Wong | Sub Camps Chief

Paul Wong is our newly appointed Sub Camps Chief. Paul has been a Leader with Scouting for 30 years and has held a number of volunteer appointments. Paul has a full time job, is supporting the Organising Team for BrumJam and is County Commissioner for the West Mercia County. He was previously ACC (International) for West Mercia. Paul has been involved in a number of Jamborees and lead units to numerous Internationals.
Paul’s role on BrumJam 2016 is to lead the team of Sub Camp Team Leaders and all of the Sub Camp Staff to deliver the theme and create a great Jamboree feeling within the 4 sub camps for BrumJam. Additionally Paul and the team will be planning and delivering the three Sub Camp Programme Days, the Staff Evening Entertainment, Staff Catering, Pastoral Care and the Crèche . We are pleased to announce that joining Paul is our 3 Sub Camp Team Leaders Sean Kelly (Africa Sub Camp) , Rebecca Andrews (Asia Sub Camp) Matthew Fox (America Sub Camp) and Dan Hartles (Europe Staff Sub Camp).

Yvonne

Yvonne Woodhall | Camp Admin Chief

Yvonne has been a Leader in Scouting for 10 years and has held a number of roles including being a Group Scout Leader. As well as being married to Russell, having 2 teenage children, a full time job and supporting the Organising Team for BrumJam, Yvonne is part of a District team and a member of the County Executive in Birmingham County. Yvonne has been involved, organised and attended a number of large scale events and was involved in the Bookings for BrumJam 2012. Yvonne works closely with Lynn Gurmin our Finance Chief to co-ordinate the booking process. Yvonne will be the contact for following up the staged payments and issuing and chasing up the ‘’nominal role’’ forms so we know who is coming to camp. Based on Yvonne’s previous involvement and feedback we implemented a number of improvements to the booking process. Between the Camp Admin and Finance team these are the most complex and vital (and sometimes unfortunately the most unappreciated) elements leading up to any event however Yvonne is committed to ensure that the Admin process runs as smoothly as possible so we can all get on with having a fun time a camp. Yvonne would like some support on the camp helping with registration, booking in and issuing lanyards and I.D etc once the camp starts. Nick | BrumJam Programme Chief

Nick has been a leader with Scouting for 14 years and held a number of volunteer appointments, including Scout Leader and Assistant District Commissioner (Scouts). Currently as well as being married to Liz, having a young family, a full time job and heading up the programme for BrumJam, Nick is Assistant County Commissioner (Scouts) in Birmingham. Nick has been involved, organised and attended a number of International trips, worked alongside our friends in Girlguiding and runs our BrumVenture County Activity Badge Weekend. Nick attended BrumJam as a participant leader with his Scout Group in 2012. Nick is committed to lead the Programme Team Leaders for BrumJam 2016 taking care of both the 6 day activity programme and the evening entertainment to make sure we all have a great time on camp. After all the programme is the one of the key things that young people remember about camp. If you would like to help with delivering the programme as Staff then please get in contact.

Amanda-Organising-Team-Page

Amanda Cardall | Communications and P.R Chief

Amanda has been a volunteer with Scouting for 18 years and held a number of volunteer appointments. Currently as well as being married to Simon (our Jamboree Chief), having a full time job and supporting the Organising Team for BrumJam, Amanda is County Communications Manager for Birmingham County, District Secretary and a Group Secretary. Amanda has been involved, organised and attended a number of large scale events and worked alongside our friends in Girlguiding. Amanda supported BrumJam as Communication and P.R Chief in 2012. Amanda is the first point of contact for the general information and questions. Please contact Amanda on info@brumjam.org. By using all our favourite modern communication methods such as website, facebook, twitter and e-mail Amanda is committed to ensuring the communications and P.R is effective before the event. During the event Amanda and her team will be responsible for the camp photography and filming, facebook updates and the camp news letter so that we record all the fun and adventure.
